Welcome and take a little bit time to know about us: Save the will (SAWIL) Pax Upendo Academy for Poor Children is a non-profit charitable foundation founded on 11th October 2014 with a specific objective to create a promising future for impoverished rural children and families through education, advocacy and support in Magu district, Mwanza region, in Tanzania. "Save the Will (SAWIL) Pax Upendo Academy for Poor Children" is our name and carries our concept of making the World a better place for all by empowering and assisting both the poor, rural children and families in Magu District, Mwanza region in Tanzania, East Africa. We are rooted in sharing God's love unconditionally, building peace and giving hope in all our activities to both the poor rural children and families in our community to make them feeling loved, valued and respected as we are all equal in front of our creature, God the Almighty and the Laws. Our vision: Insure that impoverished rural children and families are able to live a sustainable, rewarding, decent and autonomous life. Our mission: To educate, feed, care and support impoverished rural children and families to fight poverty, violence, discrimination, diseases, hunger and illiteracy in Magu district, Tanzania. Our birth process: April 2014, two compassionate friends, Mr. William Ilembo Johnson (a villager living at Bujora village, Magu district in Tanzania) and Ms. Sarah Dwyer (a volunteer from Australia who visited Tanzania in 2009 and 2013 consecutively) with the participation of goodwill people and the community of Bujora and Kisesa wards in Magu district, Mwanza region formed this non-profit charitable foundation to serve both the poor, rural children and families in Magu district. Brief about our location: Magu District where we are based is a rural district in Mwanza region, Northwestern of our country with a population estimated at 299,759 according to 2012 Census with a high rate of poverty and illiteracy. There is still a great predominance of traditions and cultures practices in the mode of life of residents which affects the dignity respect and development of women and children mostly girls comparing with women and children living in the city and other urban areas in Mwanza region where there is mixture of cultures, residents and a high rate of educated families. Education is not necessarily given to children as a priority but just a privilege, girls and less fortunate children in this area face considerable challenges in getting access to education. For this reason and many others we have chosen to work first here.
